Le Castellet (FRA). It doesn’t often happen in motorsport to see father and son racing together in the same race, when they take turns behind the wheel of the same car, the situation then takes on the connotation of the truly exceptional! Well this will happen this weekend at the French Paul Ricard circuit in Le Castellet, when Daniele and Nicola Cazzaniga will take part of the third round of Ligier European Series sharing the cockpit of the Ligier JS P4 of HPRacing by Monza Garage. Daniele and Nicola together with Riccardo had already set a record when all three of them raced in 2014, obviously in three different single-seaters, in a race of the French Formula Renault Championship. For Daniele and Nicola it is a high-profile seasonal debut in a series that sees highly professional and absolutely prestigious realities. Ligier Automotive and the European Le Mans Series launched the Ligier European Series in 2020, a one-make series dedicated to the Ligier JS P4, a sports prototype with a futuristic look, and to the Ligier JS2 R, a small GT designed exclusively for racing .
Daniele Cazzaniga: “After the intense 2022 motorsport season I am happy to be back in my first race weekend of 2023! I’m particularly curious to discover this championship with the hope of having fun and fighting for the top positions.”
Nicola Cazzaniga: “I am very happy to be back in the race after five years and even more to do so sharing the cockpit with Daniele. Racing with one of my sons has always been a dream, certainly the excitement will rise to a thousand in the mandatory mid-race pit stop for the driver change! I’ve never lacked the spirit of competitiveness and I think I’m also in good shape to be able to compete at my best in the category that belongs to me: I’m sure we’ll get some great satisfaction.”
The weekend program will begin with two free practice sessions scheduled for Friday 14 July at 9.40 and 14.10, followed by qualifying practice starting at 17.15; it continues on Saturday 15 July with the dispute of the first race at 9.00 and the second and final race at 13.20.
