Andrea Galli and Daniele Cazzaniga made their GT Cup Europe debut in Monza over the weekend of October 17-19, immediately scoring a prestigious podium in Race 1 and finishing seventh in Race 2 in Pro-Am class.
The race weekend of the European GT Cup series also marked the debut of DC Coaching & Management as a team, composed of Andrea Galli and Daniele Cazzaniga, who returns to the driver’s seat for this occasion. At the wheel of the Porsche GT3 Cup of SP Racing, the Italian duo immediately hit the track with great feeling and competitive pace, making good laptimes in a championship of the highest technical standard, where drivers and teams from all over Europe compete.
In Race 1, after a positive qualifying from Andrea, Galli and Cazzaniga made a solid and intelligent race, avoiding mistakes and making at their best the most of the crucial pit stops and track traffic moments. The result was a second-place finish in the Pro-Am class and sixth overall, which felt like a victory.
The second race, more eventful race and marked by several incidents, saw the Pro-Am crew maintain their top positions from the start thanks to a fourth-place overall qualifying result from Daniele. At the end of the first stint, with Daniele at the wheel, a safety car went out bunching up the entire field and closing the gap built in the first 30 minutes. Andrea, after the driver change, managed his stint professionally, finishing seventh in the Pro-Am class. This result confirms the consistency and maturity of the Italian duo.
We’re really happy about our weekend,” Galli commented after the race. “Debuting with a podium wasn’t a given, but we worked well with the team and immediately found the right feeling with the car.”
Cazzaniga added:
“We decided to do this race almost at the last minute, but starting with a result like this gives us great confidence and we’ve been rewarded for the work we’ve done. As a Pro-Am crew, Andrea and I have the potential to remain consistently at the top of the standings.”
